Memory's Shade

Memory’s shade, in tranquil hues,

Thoughts, ideas, with depth imbue,

And sprinkle o’er the simplest things

Nostalgia’s air, like springtime brings.

An icy puddle one bright morn

May hearken back when I was young

And watched with wond’ring eye so keen

The glittering of the glassy gleam.

Or song of bird in foliage green

Reminds me of a summer’s eve,

When, after thunderstorm had come,

The air with sparrows’ whistles hummed.

Countless reminisces fly

Within my mind, thus, as I try

Recalling days in childhood,

Reminding me of all things good.
