Crest Yon' Hill

Crest yon’ hill, and cast your eyes

O’er lands that ne’er has human sight

Beheld, in all its green array,

Where sunlight chases dark away.

See the path is steep, but sure;

Longer miles have we endured

Than what are left upon our quest;

So onward go, into the west.

Who knows what wonders lay enshrined

In mountain caverns, hid behind

The cataracts of lofty height

That send their roars through cloudless night?

Or creatures strange that roam beneath

The aged forests evergreen,

That grant to men their great desires

If caught beneath sun’s midday fire?

Wand’rers brave, go forth and see

What wonders in this realm there be;

Go boldly, and without a fear,

For shadows flee the sunlight here.
