Storm the Gates

Storm the gates! reclaim the halls

That long years lay in evil’s thrall,

And from the highest parapet,

Proclaim the day of monument.

Storm the gates! and build again

The nation suff’ring long ‘neath hands

That sold their birthright long ago,

And turned on them, as mortal foe.

Storm the gates! let Justice rise

And free the souls that bear no guile;

Let the righteous live in peace,

And bring upon the land increase.

Storm the gates! remember well

Our forbears’ warnings oft do tell

That ease and comfort oft can be

The end of every sovereignty.

Storm the gates! and keep alive

The zeal that in your hearts does thrive,

That on shall go, for centuries,

A land whose people lives in peace.
